 Holy Spirits Vision for Religious Education

We believe that Religious Education at Holy Spirit enables our students to be learners who are inspired, confident and knowledgeable in the Catholic Christian Tradition. Holy Spirit’s Vision for Religious Education They identify their learning as connected to their world and shaped in the understanding of the Gospel Values, empowering them to participate critically and effectively. Our Religious Education Curriculum implements best practices and is based on current pedagogy, building students' desire for learning. The Religion Curriculum and Religious Life of the School – Witness to Mission are interconnected. These are visibly expressed through our gathering together as a community in service, dignity and compassion, building positive relationships as well as justice and respect for all.

Our Mercy charism provides the school with a local lens through which teaching and learning of religion and how to be religious in a particular way occur.  Through the curriculum, we learn about other traditions, and through our Witness to Mission (RLOS), we develop and express our own faith tradition while respecting other traditions.

The Religion Curriculum P-12 involves four strands: 

Sacred Texts, Beliefs, Church and Christian Life. These strands are interrelated and are taught in an integrated way and in ways that are appropriate to specific local contexts.  The curriculum challenges our students at Holy Spirit School to be a ‘religious voice in the world’, challenging them to live the message of Jesus every day in their lives. Religion Curriculum: Through the Religion Curriculum, we aim to develop the religious literacy of our students in the light of the Catholic Christian tradition.  This will assist them to participate critically and genuinely in a contemporary world.
